Objectives

So today, I decided to try something new. I’ll be honest, for the past couple days – even weeks – I’ve been incredibly lazy, ever since classes finished. But the sad part is, in this laziness, I haven’t even spent time doing things that I really want to do. I had actually let the laziness just completely take over; oversleeping, constantly wasting time online – nothing that was actually worth my time. Instead of reading, writing, or playing guitar – anything that could be slightly worthwhile – I had decided to just let time slip by, time that will never be regained. And I believe that there are almost no worse things in this world than idleness. It leads to a whole host of other problems.

So from now on, I have decided that I will make daily objectives. Every day, I will make a list of things that I would like to get accomplished. For example, today my list was as follows: play guitar and write a song, write, write a blog- post about to-do lists and how we should avoid being idle like the plague, go for a nice drive to the park, rake the lawn, read some good books, and workout. Of all of these things on my list for today, the only thing I haven’t accomplished is writing a blog post, and that is what I am working on now.

The point isn’t for me to say “look at me and how much I’ve accomplished today”. The point is to show you how much better off I feel about myself as a result. Today, as opposed to the other days in the week, I actually got things done. I accomplished things. Because of this, I am a better person, and will also hopefully better the lives of a couple others as well.

So if you value yourself, and your time, and would like to start accomplishing more, and feeling better about yourself in the process, I think it is time to consider starting to write to-do lists for every day you are alive. These lists don’t have to be huge, or involve time-consuming tasks. They just have to be things that you know you will be happy and proud of yourself to know that you have accomplished. And I can guarantee you once you start doing this you will start to feel so much better, and will also become so much more productive.

Until next time, Adeus!
